The day I realized I was a parent and there was no turning back was when my oldest daughter was about ten months old. She had been napping for a while so I decided to check in on her. As I walked to the top of the stairs I noticed an awful smell. “What in the world is that!?” is what went through my mind. Poop. It was poop!

Not just a poop diaper, but a bed, carpet, blanket and child covered in it. The sight of it all made me incapable of thinking for at least 30 seconds and then I did what I thought was best–I screamed. My sweet little baby had taken off her diaper and played in her waste. I think I used every wipe (thankfully, not my WaterWipes), towel and cleaning product around to restore cleanliness and order back to her room.

The Joys of Parenthood

Parents have all been in situations where their children did something unexpected, causing frustration, sometimes tears and often laughter. It’s these moments that are most memorable, put life into perspective and are worthy of being embraced. They are what makes parenting parenting. Myself and fellow #WaterWipesMom ambassadors recently shared some of our memorable experiences as moms during our child’s first year of life. Watch the video below to see if you can relate.

Our newborn is giving me a chance to parent a little differently, especially during her first year of life. This time around I am choosing to give her the best of everything, including the products we use everyday–diapers and wipes.  Choosing to use WaterWipes exclusively has reduced the risk of rashes because they contain no harmful chemicals, only containing 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract and are the best natural option. I am also choosing to slow down so I can do a better job at embracing every moment.

Learn to embrace every moment of parenthood.

What experience helped you “realize” you were a parent?
