Highlights for Kids Summer Reading and Activities

School will be out for the summer soon and you may be trying to figure out what your child will do with all the extra time he or she will have on their hands. Having a list of books to read is not always a child’s idea of fun, however finding literature that offers learning with a twist, is!

I remember walking into doctor’s offices and immediately, after checking in, running to the children’s section and grab the latest Highlights magazine. I am sure I begged my mom to get me these magazines, because for a couple years I was able to enjoy reading them at home. Highlights has been around for more than 65 years. More than just a magazine, they now offer toys, books, games and apps and more.

Highlights has three magazines for children, which are all based on age:

Hello for ages 0-2

High Five for ages 2-6

Highlights for ages 6-12

All of the magazines feature stories, colorful illustrations, games and fun while learning. My girls have read all three Highlights magazines, but recently they enjoyed reading a recent issue of High Five. The issue provided a matching game that we can play over and over again.

Summer reading with Highlights will help the learning to continue even while school is not in session and guarantees your child will have wholesome and educational entertainment. It is so worth the investment. Plus, you will find yourself skimming the pages and enjoying the activities yourself.
