Life has been so busy lately for me and my family. We are seemingly always on the go or have a project to work on. A midweek family night was necessary. During the winter months I posted about choosing Magic Mountain for indoor play to remedy cabin fever, but we never made it out to visit. However, it felt so good this week to take a break from work, get out of the house and take time for a family night at Magic Mountain Fun Centers, Polaris. The visit offered this momma a night away from cooking (YES!), cleaning up toys, and promised exhaustion at the end of the night, or so I thought.
Magic Mountain Polaris is right off I-71 South, making it extremely easy for visitors of the city to see and access. It is near several hotels, restaurants and tons of great shopping. There area is an ideal location for families to visit. The facility is opened for the most part of the day and evening, allowing you plenty of time to get there for some fun.
The first thing we checked out after entering was the arcade games. Before our visit, we tried to describe to our girls exactly what they were going to do and see at Magic Mountain. Playing the arcade games was on the top of our oldest’s list. There were many games to choose from, more than I thought would be appropriate for my toddlers to play. Inserting tokens into the games was a highlight for the little ones and since we had 100 tokens to use in the couple of hours we were there, we allowed them to play the games as many times as they wanted.
Even daddy was excited to join in on the arcade fun. He may have (secretly) had more fun than our girls.
We hit the jackpot!
Magic Mountain also has go-karts, miniature golf, bumper boats, and laser tag, but our girls are not old enough or tall enough to take advantage of those attractions. My husband and I thought we may take turns driving the go-karts, but this Ohio weather did not cooperate that evening. The cool temps kept us inside to discover other options for fun.
Kids Play Gym
Toddlers have plenty of space to run around at Magic Mountain. The Kids Play Gym, which is on the lower level of the facility, offers a couple large playscapes with tunnels and slides. Like a lot of highly trafficked kids’ areas, it smelled, in my opinion, like feet. The odor was easy to get over though, because the kids instantly found something to jump on, crawl through, or climb up and were unbothered. Since our visit was on an evening in the middle of the week, there were only a handful of toddlers who were also playing in the area, and no big kids to watch and make sure they were not running over the little ones. What a relief that was.
If I had one complaint, it would be that the area’s staff were a little less than enthused to be working that night. Honestly, the teenage staff member was almost asleep, sitting with her hands in her pockets the entire time we played in the play gym. Luckily, we did not need her help to have fun or stay safe.
What’s a family night without some grub? The Magic Mountain menu is limited to “fun” food, but we did not mind because we allow ourselves to enjoy that type of food from time to time, especially when things are little busy around our way. When we planning our visit, I asked our youngest what she was looking forward to doing at Magic Mountain and she repeatedly answered, “I want to eat pizza.” Needless to say, her request was answered.
Of course before you leave Magic Mountain you have to redeem your tickets for prizes. This was probably the most difficult part of the night. We could not quite agree with what the girls should take home. They chose a few prizes, we kindly encouraged them to look at the non-candy options, my hub and I fussed a bit about whether they should opt for the disc shooter or watches (my husband really wanted a toy for himself, I’m just saying), but the girls walked out with fun prizes that they are, surprisingly, still enjoying.
The girls left our family night at Magic Mountain singing their favorite Bubble Guppies songs, which means they left happy. I just knew that the night would end with us carrying our sleepy babies into the house and them being too tired for their baths. I was wrong–they had more energy than a little bit. Nonetheless, our family night at Magic Mountain offered us a fun time out of our house and with one another.
