I received a complimentary stay at The Joseph Hotel in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.
Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph Hotel has been in Columbus for a little over a year now. My family and I were recently invited to attend a blogger event to allow us to get a better look at what the hotel offers visitors and residents of Columbus. My husband and I opted for a staycation at the hotel for our anniversary, and had a great experience, so accepting the invitation was a no brainer.
Visiting The Joseph with my preschoolers was a great way to spend quality time together as a family. We took advantage of our stay by playing games and eating more candy and sweets than we probably should. The girls were intrigued by many elements in the room, including the view. All five senses were stimulated as they explored every corner of our room. The Joseph Hotel has a way of doing that–stimulating all of your senses.
Welcomed by the Aroma
Upon entering the hotel, you will be taken away by a beautiful scent specifically made for Le Méridien hotels. The aroma is distinct, and quite pleasant. It can be smelled throughout the hotel and add a sense of coziness and home to your stay.
See the Sights
The Joseph Hotel, and its fabulous location in the heart of Columbus, is surrounded by several art galleries, however, it is indeed a gallery of its own. Whether sitting in the lobby, enjoying espresso from Soul Bar, or freshening up in the luxurious bathroom of your guest room or suite, you will experience a piece of Ron and Ann Pizzuti’s personal art collection or that of a local artist. Ron Pizzuti is one of the top 200 art collectors, as well as The Joseph Hotel owner. He willingly offers pieces from his art collection to showcase throughout the property.
For more local art, The Joseph Editions, a small gallery only a minute away when walking, is an extension of the hotel and showcases work from local artists. While on a tour of the space, we were able to meet Grégoire Moulin, current showcased artist, whose collection of photographs of Paris, France are shown through “To Paris, with Love”. The Joseph Editions offers a great way to connect with local artists and to grow a collection of your own.
The aesthetics of The Joseph Hotel were carefully designed, offering a view of sleek and modern décor in every direction you look. You’ll also see fantastic views of the city, including the Short North, and the Downtown skyline.
Experience the Taste
Macaroons as a welcome treat woke up our taste buds shortly after arriving. Is it not a kids’ dream to have treats delivered to their door? Every macaroon was not the same, so trying different flavors was also a treat. The Soul Bar, located on the main level, offers quick bites and drinks. If you’re looking for an extensive or more kid-friendly menu, your nearby options are endless. Just stroll up or down High Street for some of the best food Columbus has to offer.
Feel the Love
During our stay we ventured outside the hotel for a bite to eat. The temps outside were not inviting, however upon returning to the hotel, the warm lobby welcomed us with great smells and a gorgeous fireplace.
One of my favorite pieces in the hotel is one that can be find right above the fireplace. I Saw Othello’s Visage In His Mind by Fred Wilson is absolutely stunning and is a personal piece from the Pizzuti home. Black mirrors on top of one another make up this one of a kind piece and is a great accent to the cozy sitting area where its located.
If you are looking to relax even more, visit the Spa Suites for an unforgettable spa experience. The aroma and views alone will help you to get some needed R & R and the service is superb. If you like yoga, the hotel has partnered with a local yoga center that will help you get centered, as well as a fully-equipped fitness center with fab views.
Hear the Sounds
Art at the hotel doesn’t necessarily mean a picture or painting hung on the wall. A cool piece, that even the little ones in your family would enjoy seeing, is located on the stairway leading up to the second level. The Solo Night by Diane Landry is a motion activated piece that is comprised of recycled water bottles, sand and light, creating surprisingly soft sounds in a luminous wheel.
If you’re quiet enough in your guest room, you can also hear the sounds of the city!
Whether looking for a place to stay for a grand occasion, a getaway, to experience culture, or a cool place to hang out with friends, you’ll find that The Joseph Hotel is the perfect choice. It’s luxury. It’s art.
