I see my children almost 24/7. My days are spent as both their parent and primary educator. Having the opportunity to be with my children as much as I do is certainly a blessing, but it comes with some cons. I don’t get a large amount of time to do things outside of keeping up with the kids. However, I have learned to make the most of my time and to be as resourceful as possible so I don’t feel like I’m doing too much–mommy guilt and burnout is real. One thing I have almost mastered is grocery shopping. If I don’t send my husband to pick up our list of items, I have likely ordered groceries online to be picked up curbside. Recently, I discovered something even better than curbside pickup–Giant Eagle Curbside Express Delivery!
How Giant Eagle Curbside Express Delivery Works
Giant Eagle’s Curbside Express Delivery allows me to stock the refrigerator with good food options without the stress of going inside the store, especially with children in tow. With this service I’m saving time, get a personal shopper, and have the ability to intentionally make better buying choices.
Giant Eagles online shopping platform is simple to use and requires a quick log in. Once you connect your Advantage Card (yes, you still get your Perks!), you’ll be able to see your Giant Eagle shopping history, allowing you to add things to your cart even faster.
In my recent order I filled my cart with items to make a healthy salad for the new year, personal items like soap and shampoo, and, my favorite, fresh flowers. With your order you can be as specific about what you want as you would like. For instance, I wanted fresh tulips and desired them to all be one color. My personal shopper chose gorgeous stems–all red. You can do the same with produce and meat options and more. If the store is out of an item, you can give them permission to substitute your desired item with the next best thing at no added cost.
My local Giant Eagle had delivery time slots available for next day delivery. Same day delivery is available at some stores if the order is received by 3:30 P.M.Slots are one hour slots, so I chose 12pm-1pm, a time when I knew I’d be at home with my kids. Once I made my online payment, the only payment option for this service, it was time to wait.
Giant Eagle partners with Deliv® to make home deliveries. The $12.95 delivery fee (waived on your first order) covers the service and no tipping is required. My delivery arrived a few minutes shy of my one hour window. There was nothing to sign or pay. All it took was a, “Hello! Thank you. Bye!” and my grocery shopping was complete. The entire process was so simple that I will certainly order through Giant Eagle’s Curbside Express Delivery again.
5 Easy Steps for a Flavorful, Healthy Salad
Discovering a time and sanity saving service has helped me to begin the new year with a bang. It also allowed me to create a healthy salad to remind me to take care of myself. With all of life’s responsibilities it’s easy to consume foods that may not be the best options but shopping online helped me to be more aware of what I added to my cart.

Can I admit something? I don’t always look forward to dinner time. It’s one area of my life where I sometimes lack motivation and inspiration. Pinterest sometimes assists with recipes, but if the recipe requires a lot of time or many ingredients, I typically run as quickly as I can. Busy moms can’t always prepare gourmet meals, so tasty and easy is usually the mealtime goal for families. My crockpot Mangolian BBQ Shredded Chicken Sliders recipe is just one of the easiest meals I’ve created.
I’m not a food blogger, which is why you’ll find food recipes here and there on this blog. However, when I come up with a recipe that is as delicious and easy as this simple crockpot meal, I must share. Mangolian BBQ Shredded Chicken Sliders are perfect for a midweek meal, tailgating, and even a party entree. It requires only a handful of (inexpensive) main ingredients–chicken breasts, P.F. Chang’s® Mangolian BBQ Home Menu Sauce, brown sugar and pineapple. All these ingredients put into the crockpot for a few hours creates something special–an easy and flavorful entree.
I found all these ingredients at Meijer. Their multicultural food section made it super easy to find the sauce. When it came to choosing what flavor I wanted to accompany my chicken, I was torn between the La Choy® Teriyaki Sauce and the P.F. Chang’s Mangolian BBQ Sauce. I knew both would give me the tangy taste I was searching for, but I ultimately went with the Mangolian BBQ Sauce.
The P.F. Chang’s sauces are free of artificial flavors, sticks to the protein or veggies being cooked, and are created with premium and distinct ingredients.
Ok, you probably want to know how to make these sliders, so let me tell how to create them!
Mangolian BBQ Shredded Chicken Sliders
What You’ll Need
4 boneless chicken breasts
1 bottle of P.F. Chang’s Mangolian BBQ Home Menu Sauce
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 whole pineapple
For easy clean-up later and superior non-stick, spray the bottom of the crockpot with PAM® Pump Spray (It only has three simple ingredients, no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.).
Add all ingredients, minus the pineapple, to the crockpot and combine.
Cook on high for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
While you wait, cut the pineapple into slices and refrigerate.
Shred fully cooked chicken with a hand mixer. To avoid sauce splatter, set mixer to the lowest setting and use in a pulsating fashion.
Serve warm on slider buns and garnish with 1/2 slices of pineapple. Serves 4-6.

I have a little problem. I find myself shopping and window shopping a bit more than I should. Most items I buy are for my girls or the house, so don’t think you’ll see me in new threads every time you see me. I guess it’s the mom in me, always looking to keep the family happy and in one piece. Are you guilty of this?
When I shop, however, I almost always have a coupon, discount or found an item on clearance. I want the most for my money at all times. Recently I discovered that Groupon has more than vouchers for a good meal or local attraction. There are Groupon Coupons and discount codes that can be used at stores you probably shop at a few times a week. One is my favorite store, Target.
Groupon Coupons at Target and More
Groupon Coupons has over 65 sales, and printable and digital coupons for Target, so you can save both online and in-store. One deal they are currently featuring is saving $5 off $50 (no code needed) for simply clicking on a link on their site that takes you over to Target.com. We all know how easy it is to make a trip to Target for only one item, so planning ahead with Groupon Coupons will help you save your coins!
With over 9,000 retailers teaming up with Groupon, the list of stores to save at is long, so I’m sure your favorite stores are listed. Be sure to take note of which stores have deals before heading out to do your back-to-school and holiday shopping!

The popular documentary, What the Health, has many Americans wondering how they can become vegans. It has shined a light on practices of farmers, doctors, the government, and most importantly, us as consumers. At some point, we have all failed to make the best decisions in regards to our health and food consumption. What the Health has sort of awakened a desire to do better. For some, becoming vegan or vegetarian has become a top priority. Personally, it has helped me to become even more conscious about what I am feeding myself and my family.
I Watched What the Health. Now What?
Right after watching the documentary, my husband and I quickly decided we no longer wanted to be so familiar with meat. We grilled up 90% of the meat from our refrigerator and freezer as a last hoorah. For the past four years, pork and red meat has not been a part of our diet, especially mine. It was a decision I made due to adult acne and dreadfully long periods. I quickly saw great results in my health after a month of not eating those meats, so I continued. My husband will occasionally order a burger or steak, but I always opt for a poultry or seafood option. The documentary revealed to us that although we aren’t the worst eaters, we still were making food choices that needed a little tweaking. I’ll be honest, although I initially wanted to start a vegan diet, I realized it just wasn’t completely realistic for my family. So now what?
My family and I are essentially now on a meatless diet. During the week we have found that meals sans meat have been delicious and that if one of us desires to occasionally eat meat, it’s ok. It’s all about moderation for us, but the more we eat meatless meals, the easier it is to enjoy them. We haven’t given completely up on dairy either, which was greatly discussed in What the Health, but we’ll tackle that at another time. Sometimes taking baby steps can give the best results.
Meatless Meals We Eat
We only begun our meatless journey two weeks ago. So far we have managed to eat three meatless meals per day, with the exception of one visit to Chick-fil-A (our favorite fast food joint) after Vacation Bible School. Here’s an idea of what our meals look like:
Cream of Wheat
Peanut Butter Toast
Green Leaf Salad with Veggies
Hummus and Pita Chips
Cheese Pizza/Veggie Pizza
Pasta with Tomato Sauce
Fettucine with Mushrooms and Spinach
Curry Chickpeas & Rice, Homemade Naan
Green Leaf Salad with Veggies
I won’t pretend to live a perfectly healthy lifestyle. While most of our grocery list can be find in the organic and natural sections of the store, I could certainly stand to exercise more and eat even healthier. However, you won’t find my family and I going to extreme lengths to change our eating habits completely because of a Netflix documentary. We’ll do the best we can and do what works for us, like every family should.
Have you seen the documentary? Has it prompted you to make any dietary changes?

In recent news we have seen nothing but turmoil and evil acts. Violence and immoral activity is happening world-wide; however I know that what the world needs in order to eliminate the hate and cruelty is men. We don’t need just any group of men, but men who are strong physically, mentally and spiritually. The most important characteristic of the type of man needed to bring change to the world is being a lover of God. Women can help make this happen
Women are no doubt world changers, however, I want us to think of the ways you can strengthen our husbands so he can be the lover of God and world changer that he’s been called to be. When I want my husband to make a change or to come to a realization of anything, I tend to talk. By talk I mean repeatedly reminding him, in an attempt to drill it into his mind. This is the tendency of most women. Face it, we like to talk. I’ve heard that women speak about 20,000 words per day compared to a man’s 7,000. (Those numbers make me want to count my words to see if it’s true.) Needless to say, women are just wired to talk and express themselves. Since men are of fewer words, the amount of words they want to hear are probably even smaller, which is why the words that we choose to speak to our mates should be meaningful.
Strengthen Your Husband
Be An Encourager
When those “I told you so” moments come up, fight the urge to rub it in his face. And when he makes a bad decision, beating him up about it will do nothing but kill his spirit. Stop and find the good and encourage him in a way you would want to be encouraged. Let him know you have his back, help him fix the problem if he’s open to it and remind him of his strengths.
Depend on the Holy Spirit
Everything isn’t worth talking about. Most things are better off being given to God. Allow Him to work on your behalf by speaking to your husband Himself. By being quiet you are giving your husband the opportunity to hear from the One that matters most.
Give Him Resources
An understanding of who he is will cause the most growth in his character and spirituality. Give him books, music, and a Bible that reinforces the messages of strength he needs most.

Besides spending time with my family, eating during the holiday season is my favorite activity. I mean, who doesn’t like to walk into a home bursting with the aroma of comfort food and desserts? If you’re headed to a holiday party, don’t show up empty handed. Holiday parties (or any party for that matter) are a drag without great food. When food at an event is lackluster, I can easily become hangry (hungry+angry). Bacon Ranch Potatoes is a great holiday appetizer or side dish for your next party.
Bacon Ranch Potatoes Recipe
I’m a meet and potatoes kind of girl, so this simple recipe is one of my new favorites! I recently made it for my daughter’s fourth birthday party and our party guests devoured them. If you have 35 minutes, you have plenty of time to cook up this dish.
Some of my favorite items are included in this dish–potatoes, cheese, bacon, and ranch. I honestly can’t say I have ever met anyone who didn’t like these foods, probably because they are found in many comfort food dishes.
I’m not a pro when it comes to cutting potatoes; luckily, the taste isn’t effected. Cook these babies, toss ranch on them and they are halfway to being a party in your mouth.
Throw the dish in the oven and in half an hour you have a delicious dish that will keep your guests in the kitchen.LOADED BACON RANCH POTATOESServes 6Write a reviewPrep Time5 minCook Time30 minTotal Time35 minINGREDIENTS
